Souktel Follows Wikipedia & Facebook Founders, Presents at Blouin Creative Leadership Summit
Held just before the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, and just after the opening of the UN General Assembly, the Blouin Summit has always attracted key thought leaders from both events–bringing these luminaries together for engaging conversations in an intimate setting. Last year, delegates included Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post, Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes, and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. As in past years, the 2011 Summit brings together thought leaders from around the world, with the hope that each will bring awareness to new global issues–while challenging traditional perspectives. “Our goal will be to demonstrate how mobile technology can be a catalyst for economic growth,” explains Souktel co-founder Jacob Korenblum. “We’ll be sharing our experience from the Middle East and East Africa, two regions where we believe our mobile JobMatch service has helped reduce unemployment and connect workers with meaningful jobs”. The summit will take place in New York from Sept. 19 to 20, 2011. For more information, click here. Souktel Shares Stage With Intel at 5th Annual Making Cents Conference Just a couple of weeks prior to the Blouin Creative Leadership Summit, Souktel will also be sharing its work in Washington, D.C. at another key event: The Global Youth Economic Opportunities Conference, hosted by Making Cents International from Sept. 7 to 9. At this conference, on a panel with top executives from Intel, Souktel will be speaking about “How Technology is Causing Breakthroughs in Youth Economic Opportunity.” Focusing on practical action, Souktel aims to give a “how-to” overview for practitioners in the audience–most of whom deliver financial and employment services for youth, through projects financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) or funds like the Mastercard Foundation. “This conference brings together an amazing group of people who serve youth in emerging markets across the globe,” explains Kristen Roggemann, Souktel’s Team Leader for Partnerships. “Many of them want to get a better understanding of how they can incorporate mobile tech into their work”. She adds: “For us, having supported large non-profits like World Vision and UN agencies like UNDP over the past 5 years, we’re in a unique position to share ‘do’s and don’ts’ about how mobile technology can be applied to youth economic development. We hope our insights will be useful!”
