Across East Africa, Souktel supports EDC’s work in the areas of Economic Growth & Employment, Education & Youth, and Democracy & Governance. Projects range from a mobile financial literacy info service for Somali youth, to a job information service for young Rwandans.

Global Communities (previously CHF)
In the Middle East, Souktel runs mobile services that support Global Communities’ mobile money and emergency response initiatives. In Gaza, Souktel’s mobile data collection platform has helped Global Communities streamline World Food Program aid delivery to more than 50,000 families.

GSM Association (GSMA)
Souktel partners with the GSMA on mobile strategy advising, with a focus on the Economic Growth & Employment sector and the Emergency Response sector. Recent joint work includes a first-ever guide for mobile networks on using SMS in disaster settings, produced with the Qatar Foundation.

Save the Children
Across Asia and Africa, Souktel supports Save the Children’s work in the sectors of Education & Youth, Health, and Emergency Response. Recent work includes the design and launch of a mobile health data collection system for rural clinics, and mobile information services for at-risk youth in East Africa.

Silatech
Since 2010, Souktel has supported Silatech’s youth employment initiatives by designing and delivering custom mobile information services. In the Middle East and North Africa, these services have helped thousands of young job-seekers connect with skills training, internships, and employment.

The US-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI)
In the Middle East, MEPI has supported Souktel’s delivery of mobile information services that empower female community leaders–particularly in rural settings. Souktel has also advised MEPI on key trends in “big data” and mobile tech across the Arab World.

UNESCO
In Gaza, Souktel supports UNESCO’s Disaster Risk Reduction efforts by operating a mobile “early warning system” for teachers, students and families of UN schools. The first service of its kind, the early warning system helps ensure the safety of more than 11,000 students at close to 30 schools in an active conflict zone.

UNICEF
In partnership with Unicef, Souktel has delivered the first-ever Arabic language training course on the RapidSMS mobile platform, and has developed the first Arabic versions of RapidSMS applications. With close to 30 Middle East developers trained to date, this joint initiative has helped spur the growth of open-source mobile software development across the Arab World.
