PeerNet

There’s no substitute for face-to-face communication–but meetings and training courses can be costly and tough to organize. How do you keep people connected when they’re not in the same room? 

 

PeerNet solves this challenge by letting mobile users connect with groups of peers by SMS. Project staff set up messaging groups based on locations or topics of interest, and give each group a numeric code. Community members can then sign up for groups, and send questions by SMS to the group code. Group members reply with responses, promoting real-time knowledge sharing at low cost. Expert mentors can also be added to PeerNet groups, acting as discussion moderators and trusted providers of advice.
